Sri Lanka Cricket will be looking at the possibility of getting the participation of Indian players for the Lankan Premier League tournament to be played in August this year. SLC last week announced the plans to start a franchise based Twenty20 league of their own and on Friday (February 16) confirmed that the tournament comprising six teams will take place from the August 18 to September 10. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), that conducts the cash-rich Indian Premier League tournament, has refused to provide No Objection Certificates (NOC) for Indian players to be involved in any other franchise based tournaments. However, SLC is hopeful of breaking the deadlock. "These are still early stages and we need to put up the processes of conducting the tournament. One area that we will certainly look at is the possibility of attracting Indian players for the event. We have a very good relationship with the BCCI and they have always supported us and we
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced the launch of a new T20 league that is set to start later in 2018. The new tournament, called the Lankan Premier League (LPL), is set to run from August 18 to September 10, announced SLC. "Sri Lanka Cricket is delighted to announce its aspiration to launch a T20 League with the participation of Sri Lankan and International players," said a statement from the board. In the dates announced, Sri Lanka do not have any international commitments but it will clash with other leagues such as the Caribbean Premier League and the T20 Blast in England. LPL will consist of six teams that will play each other twice in the initial round.
